Booksigning in Nieuw-Vennep on Friday January 23, 2009 by Michelle

Dear Derek and Doffies,

Friday the 23rd of januari 2009: today I would meet Derek for the 3rd time. I went together with my mum to the signingsession in Nieuw-Vennep. A few days earlier, I had met Derek in Almere-Haven and he’d told me to come at around 7pm instead of 6pm, because he would probalby be late anyway. That’s exactely what I thought too, so we left at 6.45pm. Just before we left, my dad (who wasn’t really into these kinda things, but seems to get more interested) said to me: ask Derek if my parents (or actually he said: my old ones) are there. Knowing my dad, I left laughing, thinking he meant it as a joke. After a short ride and a search for the bookstore, we arrived at the bookshop at around 19.15pm. There was quite a line, but nothing too bad. I looked towards the beginning of the line and I spotted Derek, Anita and Brigitte.

At first the line went very slow, but after a while it got a bit faster. My mother was relaxed, walked through the shop and looked in all kinda books, while I got more and more nervous. I found that very striking. The first time I met Derek I was nervous, the second time I wasn’t and now this time I was nervous again and the closer I got to Derek, the more nervous I got.
Just a while later I saw Brigitte walking up to me. The batteries of their camera had died, so she asked if they could borrow my camera: of course!!

After half an hour Derek called a lady, her husband and their 4 kids - who were standing in front of me in the line - up to the front, so they could go home early. This made it happen that I stood behind a woman and that woman stood behind a man and a woman.
it was almost my turn, when Bibi had just met Derek. I waved at her and got back at being nervous. Meanwhile I also had a chat with Brigitte and Anita.

At one point the man and the woman were with Derek. I heard Derek saying that the energy they had around them was so strong that he ended up in reading mode. I thought that was so amazing for those people. After these 2 people, Derek met de woman in front of me and then I was my turn.
But Derek didn’t walk up to me as he does when he greets you. He stood still, about 3mtrs away from me and started explaining to Harold that he was in reading mode and that he never does that during a singingsession. I could see he was more to himself (his eyes were different and he talked different) and he seemed to be thinking deeply. Just at the point I wanted to say to him: take your time, relax, I’ll wait, he all of a sudden asked if my granddad from fathers side had passed away

“uuuh, my granddad? (pointing at myself, really didn’t know he was talking to me). Derek: yeah. Me: yeah that’s right. Derek: yeah, he’s here, he’s standing next to you. Me:  I was shocked a became a bit emotional and I asked him if he was serious (stupid question). He answered: of course! I told him that my dad had asked me, just before we left, to ask him if his parents were there. Derek made a gesture like: ah then I get it. (also my fathers parents weren’t really into spiritual things, so it was quiet a surprise he came through. On the other hand, everyone always said I looked a lot like my granddad and we always had a special connection. I’ve always said that if someone comes through it will be either my granddad from fathers side or my granddad from mothers side. Deep down I knew it would be the granddad from fathers side)

Then he told what my granddad died of (was correct) en after that he said that I had to tell my dad, that my granddad had a scare on his left leg, an inch below the knee, due to an accident he had when he was a kid. My father would understand. At that point my mum and I both thought Derek meant my dad, but I promised him that I would tell my dad and ask him. After that, derek walked up to me, gave me 3 kisses and asked me what he could do for me. Still perplex and shaky I asked him to sign the picture of us two of Almere-Haven and whether he could write something in my diary for Australia, so I had something to remember him, while I’m there. It was clear to me that - at that point - he was still in readingmode, because he spelled my name in a way he only does when he is in readingmode (hard, short, sort of compulsory. Sorry hard to explain).
he read out load to me what he had wrote in my book and I had to promise him to remember it (and I will!). Then we took some pictures, I got another 3 kisses and a big hug and I thanked him for the mini reading. At that point he spotted my mum and gave her too 3 kisses and a picture.

After that I walked off to another part of the shop, totally in shock, perplexed and shaking. Meanwhile I discussed with my mum, Anita and Brigitte about what just had happened.
I took a moment to myself, sat down on a chair and started shaking like a straw. Then i felt a nausea coming up and that’s been with me the rest of the night and the next day (still got it, now and then). When it all had sank down a bit, I called my dad to tell him what had happened and to ask him about the scar. he also said immideately: this is me.
Later on, out of the blue, Derek asked if I had called my dad: I told him that what he had said was probably about my dad: he had a car accident when he was 9, broke his left leg and had surgery on it. The scar is an inch below the knee. Derek was a bit agitated that he didn’t have it 100% right. But I said to him that it was fine…it was enough for us. Then Derek asked if my granddad was in his 40ties when the accident happened…later we calculated that he was 48 at the time. After that I thanked him again and I told him I thought it was amazing what had happened.

The most extroadinairy part is, that a few hours before we left, my mum had asked me if I would like to get a reading from derek. I told her, that I would find it special, but that I would never ever ask for it, nor would I write a letter or something like that. I said: when it comes, it comes, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. And see what happened just 3 hours later? Unbelievable!!! (maybe I should buy that shirt  )

I was, and still am, flabbergasted, I sooo did not expect this. I didn’t even expect it or hoped for it when Derek told Harold that he had got into readingmode.
It was an extremely special experience, which I will cherish forever.

I’ve stayed at the shop the whole evening, because the Angels were still using our camera’s. It was special to experience a signing session till the very end. In the meantime I had bought Derek a book to say thank you and I gave it to him ad the end of the evening.

Overall this was enormously enervating, special and beautiful evening. While I’m writing this I’m shaking again and I have warm, red cheeks (which I also had when I was so nervous). I will never forget this!

I can’t wait to meet him again, so I can thank him properly, without begin like this  and not able to say what I would like to say.

Anita en Brigitte, it was really nice you were there!

Lots of love,
Michelle
