Booksigning in Emmen on Thursday January 22, 2009 by Vera

Thursday was the day… Finally Derek came to Emmen! We (my son and I) were really looking forward to it!
Because it was raining cats and dogs, we went by the bus. When we arrived in the store, it appears we were number 1.
Around 18.30 Derek arrived. In the meanwhile VeraK, SandraK and Ria had spotted us, so we got acquainted.
Derek started with making pictures of the people who came to see him, by saying “now you know how that feels”.
Then he handed out mints and chocolats…
After that he started by asking “okay, who is number 1″? Yeahhh that’s me!!! Then I got a huge hug, which was very nice and he signed my picture. 

When I told him, that my son was Ricardo whom he called when we were in Delft, he remembered, and Ricar got another hug as promissed.
We stayed the whole evening together with Sandra and Ria. It was very busy, there were about 200 people.
And Derek was just being Derek…making time for everyone, pictures, lots of hugs and kisses, the whole package. He is so sweet!
There was a little boy who he invited to come to his show, the kid was so happy! And there was a kid that brought a toy car, so Derek liked playing with it.
Around 21.30 he finished his 3rd session on that day, so he was exhausted and went lying on the floor. After that he wanted another huge hug from Ricardo, which was very funny! 
When we left he came to say and kiss us DOF-fertjes goodbye, and that was so nice of him!
We’ ve had a great evening!
Derek thank you and we’ ll see you on the MDD!
