The MDD was on April 19, but for me the journey already started on April 18… if I would have taken the first train from here the 19th (8:19) I would arrive in Amsterdam too late and miss out on the start of the MDD, so I went to Schiedam the 18th and stayed at my boyfriends’ place. In Groningen I had a stop to buy a little present for Derek.. I could not find what I wanted to buy him, but another stand draw my attention and I after a very nice conversation with the woman there, I bought my present for Derek there…
When I got it, I went back to the station to catch a train to Rotterdam… and surprisingly the travel was without any delays…
The 19th my boyfriend drove me to the station in Schiedam and on the platform we saw Gilestine and her friend. Only 2 minutes before the train arrived I saw my friend at the platform and we when the train came, we went to Amsterdam… when we arrived at Amsterdam Muiderpoort, we already saw YvonneH waiting for other DOF-members and after a short wait we also saw Thea (who I recognized by her t-shirt), Harriet, Esther and their friends. Around 11:00 we started walking to the hotel Arena.. we had to cross the “Dappermarkt”, a very nice market where I saw a really gourgeous shirt for Derek… unfortunately I didn’t know the size he wears, so I had to leave it behind…
When we arrived at the hotel Arena we saw it was very crowdy, but the atmosphere was really easygoing.. we chatted with JolandK for a while and after a short wait we went inside..
The intro of the day was really nice… (Very well done Suzanne! It gave me the chills!) and then the Angels and Derek came on stage.. They had a talk and then the photoshoot started. While waiting I was listening to the music on my iPod (Christina Aguilerea – Dirrty) and before I knew it, it was my turn to take a picture. Derek gave me a really nice and warm hug… and after the pic I went to Ilse, who I recognized from her pic on the forum. When I saw it was my friend’s turn for the pic, I went there to take her bag.. Derek asked us if we wanted a pic of him and the two of us and Ruth took it for us (thanks Ruth!)
After that we walked around a bit, enjoyed the weather and I bought a “small MEDIUM large”-shirt.
After the photoshoot it was the first round of the lottery and the big prize (2 tickets for a theatreshow and a drink backstage) was won by my friend VeraR… Gongrats girl… you deserve it!
Then it was time for Derek to walk around a bit and have a chat with the fans… I could finally give him my present… I gave him a set of “smelly sticks” and a holder and fortunately my feeling was right… Derek really enjoyed it and he gave me another big hug.

After the chatting-time it was time for another round of the lottery and right after that Derek answered some questions. When the questionnaire was done, I took a pic with Ilse, who is my sister as of the 19th.
Because my friend and I got a bit hungry, we went to the small restaurant next door, where we had some nice fries… they were served in a very funny way:

And then I went to Derek again, to get my camerabag signed. At a moment he saw me and Ilse talking and then he saw it… we look like eachother a lot! He finally understood why Ilse didn’t know what he was talking about, when he mentioned “her work as a security guard”… he said that we could be sisters… this was really spooky… if even Derek mentioned it…
Anyway… he was really happy he could go to sleep, now knowing he wasn’t going insane!

After that it was time to go inside again, where I saw our photographer Ruth walking… and I also took a pic with her:
Then it was time for the last round of the lottery and the luck was on me… I won Derek’s very nice and signed Kermit-green shirt, which he was using on the wintertour of 2008!!
Thank you Derek and thank you Angels… it has a nice place in my bedroom… I am really very happy to have won this shirt!!! (and Tanja: you will get your Baileys next time we meet… haha!)

When Tanja and Helen gave Derek his present from the fans (collection of pics) he came laughing towards me… “Look.. my stalker is on it too!” but it wasn’t me, it was Ilse… so I told him “That’s not me, that’s my sister!” and Derek made us come on stage so that everybody could see that Ilse and I look alike
The final was nice… Derek and Jeroen sang “Angels” and it was hard not to cry.
After the final I picked up the mirror I ordered from Jeroen (Glass Tattoo)… really nice done Jeroen! Thanks! And then we walked to the station again… And it was a close call, but we got the train of 19:41.. Till Amersfoort I travelled with Harriet and from Amersfoort to Zwolle I travelled with VeraR, Ricardo, IngeB and her friend… from Zwolle I had to travel alone, but hey… with my laptop and mobile internet it is okay. The travel was without delays again (woohoo!!!) and exactly at 23:07 I got out of the train at the station, where my girls were waiting for me… the train hadn’t even stopped yet and I could already hear Nikita and Kyra barking…
